Damon got stabed in the back with a short knife, and while helping her brother, Trista was also stabed. The battle was over not long after that. They wre both dying. The clan leader, who was actually a vampire, didn't want to see the talented twins go to waste. So he changed them. Trista and Damon stayed in Europe untill the 1800's.
