I didn't even flash any identification at the clubs entrance. Just my smile, dazzling the guard into submission. John followed me as we went in, looking for a vampire to hang out with.
"Do you think Evangeline will be okay alone?" John asked.
"Of course she will," I scoffed. "At best, she'll go look for Seth and take some time with him."
"I'm not so sure. Seth hasn't been out in a while. And Lily and Sin bought a house together, so I'm sure they're going to stay together."
"A house means nothing. We can't fail, John."

Someone called to us in the crowd.

I looked at Sorrow. "Hello," I said. John muttered a greeting, not liking Sorrow very much. "Where have you been lately?" I asked.

"You have to be quick," I told Sorrow.

Someone stared at us funny. I looked back at them sweetly, dazzling them, until they turned away, slightly dazed. "Be quiet!" I snapped at Sorrow. "I don't care whether or not you eat her, but don't get me in trouble from yelling those sorts of things."
